Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of healing, which has been practiced in China for over several thousand years. Acupuncture has become increasingly popular throughout the world for its safety, effectiveness, and lack of side effects.
At Fan Acupuncture we treat your whole body
Unlike a typical MD, who focuses on specific symptoms, we look at how your whole body is functioning! Our acupuncture system has 12 regular meridians, 12 meridian branches, 15 collaterals, 12 meridian tendons, 12 skin areas, and 8 extraordinary vessels to connect all parts of body. Through acupuncture we will use local and long distance points to get your whole body in good balance!
We will find and fix the origin of your problem
The first step to treatment is to examine your whole body: face color, walking gait, strengths or weaknesses, etc. Second, we will observe any particular smells indicating particular dysfunctions, such as diabetes. Third, we will ask you questions, what is your main concern, how long has it lasted, what kind treatment you have had, etc. The last step is taking your pulse, from which we will be able to determine imbalances in your body such as efficient or excess, heat or cold, dampness or phlegm, etc. After diagnosis, we will identify the origin of the problem, and fix it! Since we are targeting the root cause, you will not need treatments, medicine, or herbs forever.

Trigger Points Injection

Trigger point injection is a combination of acupuncture and injection. A trigger point is a specific spot in your muscle that is painful and tender when pressure is applied. If you have a trigger point, the muscle may be in pain, weak, or in discomfort. It may be associated with a number of different conditions. Any local injury to myofascial structure can induce trigger points. Other causes of trigger points is inflammation (myositis, bursitis, fibrositis, arthritis, tendonitis, etc), connective tissue disease, and chronic infection.
Trigger point injection is used to treat painful areas containing knots of muscle which form when muscles do not relax. We usually inject homeopathic (Traumeel) into the trigger point to eliminate it and therefore alleviate the pain. The procedure takes just a few minutes. It is very safe and has minimal side effects. Trigger point injections not only relieve pain, but also loosen the muscles which are causing the pain to therefore helping with the rehabilitation process. Most insurance companies will reimburse for this procedure.
Tuina
Tunia is considered a type of medical massage; however, it is deeper than typical a massage. The practitioner may use eight principles or methods including brush, knead, roll/press, and rub the areas between each of the joints for balancing your body. Gua Sha is when the practitioner targets big muscle areas or special points with a spoon or similar tool until they turn red.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of moving Qi and resolving blood stagnation. A partial vacuum is created in glass cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. This method is used mostly for pain, muscle itching, and soreness.
Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture is a type of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between a pair of needles. It is good for pain, muscle communication, and speedy recovery. The electric current is very low, so it is safe.
